If you are volunteering at an event and are unsure about a process, this page should be your first stop.

General Expectations

While volunteering at TOSS events, volunteers are expected to:

• Represent TOSS in a respectful and professional manner

• Follow the TOSS Code of Conduct and Dance Etiquette

• Communicate promptly if they are unable to make a scheduled shift

• Ask a board member or coordinator if something is unclear

Volunteers are not expected to improvise or solve issues alone. When in doubt, escalate to the board lead on duty.

Role-Specific Guidelines

The following documents outline responsibilities and procedures for specific volunteer roles. These documents are maintained as living references and may be updated as processes evolve.​

Volunteers should review the materials relevant to their role prior to working an event. See the different guides linked to the right. 
 

Common volunteer roles include

• Front Desk / Door Support: Check-in, payments, memberships, and general questions

• DJ Support: Music management and sound setup following TOSS DJ guidelines

• Teaching Support: Assisting with lessons or instruction as scheduled

• Event Support: Setup, breakdown, and general assistance during events

• Board of Directors: Elected leadership roles responsible for governance, oversight, and organizational decision-making (elections held annually)

Event Operations Notes

• Arrive on time or early enough to complete setup for your role

• Coordinate with the board lead or volunteer coordinator upon arrival

• Stay aware of safety, floor conditions, and participant needs

• Report any incidents or concerns to the board lead immediately

Operational decisions at events are handled by the board lead on duty.
